Book Slumps and Daily Reads

So as you noticed i have been absent, it's not intentionally though and I've been feeling down about it. I've been in a book slump these past weeks and it may have ended when i finally read the "Throne of glass series" i even reread the series about 3 times that's how much i loved it, since then my slump is over and i have read more books that i needed to for review. So there will be some upcoming reviews next week hopefully and a few blog tours.

When i started this blog I've said i would post daily not just reviews but something i call "Daily reads" could be a book you're reading for review or a book you loved and can reread all the time. So i was thinking wanted to make this permanent, sort of like daily memes.

This is my daily read for various reasons, it makes me nostalgic for a time when i was a kid just like these characters and also i could relate to both characters at times.

I'm currently reading this for the 4th time. What's not to love? A female assassin who is witty and loyal and turns out to be a long lost queen. I Love stories about magic and any sub genre dealing with it.

What is your favorite book that you can't forget?  What are you reading right now?  Grab the button, Make a post and link back here, spread the word and i hope you participate with me daily.

Spelled Spotlight Tour Feature

Today is my Stop on The "May Spelled Spotlight Tour" There will also be a Giveaway and Excerpt and i will be doing a review in June. Thanks to Kathryn Lynch at SourceBooks for inviting me.

Blurb: Talk about unhappily ever after. Dorthea is completely princed out. Sure being the crown princess of Emerald has its perks—like Glenda Original ball gowns and Hans Christian Louboutin heels. But a forced marriage to the not-so-charming prince Kato is so not what Dorthea had in mind for her enchanted future.

Trying to fix her prince problem by wishing on a (cursed) star royally backfires, leaving Dorthea with hair made up of emerald flames and the kingdom in chaos. Her parents and everyone she loves are stuck in some place called “Kansas.” Now it’s up to Dorthea and her pixed-off prince to find the mysterious Wizard of Oz and undo the curse…before it releases the wickedest witch of all and spells The End for the world of Story.

Most of the crowd had dispersed. The final few stragglers looked at me with the all too-common look of fear mixed with trepidation. Pix ’em. They were just servants. It wasn’t like their opinion mattered.
Only one remained, watching me with open curiosity. He looked to be in his late teens or was magically enhanced to appear so. He could have been a hundred for all I knew. I’d never seen him before in my life. He was handsome enough, for a commoner, even in his worn leather pants and cracked work boots. A foreigner, his hair was unruly and dark auburn, which complemented his tanned but dirt-smudged complexion, though the tall, dark stranger vibe was ruined by his piercing pale blue eyes.
Well, I’d had enough of being a sideshow for the day. “If you’re the new gardener, the hedges are overgrown and in need of a trim.” I pointed in the direction of my father. “While you’re there, you can help the king with the wisps.”
The young man’s expression clouded over, but he didn’t move.
I stamped my foot and pointed more forcefully. “Off with you. Courtyard’s that way. Be sure to clean those awful boots before coming back in.”
“Someone told me I’d find a princess of great worth here. One with the strength to be the hero this realm needs.” He stared at me with those unsettling blue eyes. They were cold, like ice water—made me shiver from head to toe. Then his gaze seemed to search even deeper. Finally, he looked through me, like I was nothing.
In brisk steps, he strode across the marble to the courtyard. But before crossing the threshold, he turned back to glare at me with his lip curled ever so slightly. “It seems she was mistaken.”
Just like that, I had been sifted, weighed, and found wanting.
I felt my own lip curl in response. How rude! Who the Grimm was this peasant to judge me? I was wearing a Glenda original. Original! Not some fairy-godmother knockoff worn by those servant girls turned royal. I was a crown princess, for the love of fairy, and no one dismissed me.
Before I could put the boy in his place—down in the dirt, where he belonged—a clatter came from behind, making me nearly jump out of my shoes. I checked and was relieved that Sterling had simply dropped his sword. By the time I looked back, the gardener was gone.
After stowing his blade, Sterling held up his shield, not in defense of the entrance but so he could look at his reflection. “Clearly he’s blind and doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
I didn’t ask for Sterling’s opinion, but it made me feel better.
Until he opened his mouth again.
“Worth, pffft. I mean, look around at all the jewels. Your palace has everything you could ever want. Honestly, I don’t know what you’re fussing about. Why would anyone want to leave?”
Because a cage is still a cage, no matter how big or glittering the bars are.
And I would find a way free, no matter the cost.

Blog Tour:Rules of Seduction

Hey!, Today i'm doing my first blog tour and i want to thank Tara Sonin at Paperlanternlit for everything. This is the last stop on the tour
Today's Blog Tour is for "Rules of Seduction" By Jenna Mullins. It's her Debut Book and i think she came out the park swinging with this one, it includes a review, interview and a giveaway!

Title: Rules of Seduction
Author: Jenna Mullins
Genre: New Adult, Romance, Contemporary
Publisher: The Studio, a Paper Lantern Lit imprint
Publication Date: April 21, 2015

The first rule of seduction is: don’t fall in love.

Fresh out of college, Dani Young heads for the LA sun to chase her dream of becoming a screenwriter-director. So when her former BFF turned actress Elise offers Dani the opportunity to work on the hit teen show Vamp Camp, Dani can’t refuse, even if it comes at a price: Elise wants Dani to seduce her boyfriend, Vamp Camp superstar Tate Lawrence. Turns out Elise has some major trust issues, and needs Dani to test Tate’s faith. The only rule: don’t fall in love with him.

Sure, Dani doesn’t mind occasionally glimpsing Tate’s megawatt smile…or accidentally-on-purpose brushing up against his perfect torso…but she’s no fool. There’s no way she’d ever fall for a shallow celebrity, and no way one would fall for her, a lanky movie nerd.

But amidst vampire-crazed fans, a conniving fellow intern, and a devilishly handsome show runner, Dani feels like all the rules she used to know have disappeared, except for one: Love doesn’t play by the rules.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review, I was so excited for my first blog tour and to read this book. The cover is so pretty and I love stories that go into the true background reality of Hollywood and pull back the curtain. It was very funny and I loved Dani and her roommate who was quirky and different. Tate was hot but he didn’t make me feel anything and the chemistry just wasn’t there for me, I’m going back to give it a second chance, I was reading and loving it until mid-point when it became a drag and I didn’t want to finish it but I can find myself needing to find out the ending. I Liked that they both had a sense of humor and her roommate could be my bff, still this didn't meet expectations.  I Would have liked Tate but i felt that his character was forced um as a book boyfriend to be sexy etc, i don't know but i do know This will be one of my second chance series.

Broken Lies Review

Broken Series #1
Claire Vale
 CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
March 8,2015

Scientists predicted it would take seventy years for the Arctic Shelf to completely melt. In the end, it took less than five. We lost thirty percent of our land to the oceans and a big chunk of our structure to panic and anarchy.
The Melt crippled us.
But it was the Arctic Virus at the bottom of The Melt, trapped for millennia in the darkest depths of ice strata, that broke us. The real flood was the Living Corpses. A population of billions turned to soulless, rabid shells within months. That’s what washed away the human race as we know it.

Born into a post-apocalyptic world, Lake has grown up in the last city standing. Governed by what used to be the Queen’s Cold Stream Guard, vaccinated against the threat, life in Windsor City is both harsh and fair. The rules are designed to strengthen the city and ensure survival.
Lake’s future is planned out with opportunities and unfair advantages and then there’s Ash—her best friend and hopefully more. Things could be worse, considering she’s living past the end of days. And, sometimes, she could definitely do with being a better person, which was what drafting into the Guard for two years of service was supposed to be about.
But she has no idea what she’s signed up for. The city is more vulnerable than she’d ever imagined, on its knees at the mercy of a megalomaniac organisation, and she’s just been chosen to pay the price.

Engage Review

Ignite, 2.5

Patchwork Press

Pub Date

Kalaziel is a terrible guardian angel: her temper’s shorter than she is, she swears, she’s missing a wing, and she sees no problem with letting man make their own choices—no matter how questionable. That’s what free will is all about, right? Her overseers disagree.

After she mishandles an assignment, Heaven strips Kala of her title and throws her back into training, hoping to reinforce the covenant of vows she swore to uphold as a guardian. But the angels’ motives aren’t as pure as they appear: they want to eradicate any opinions that conflict with Heaven’s code.

With a mass cleansing on the horizon, Kala discovers she is not alone in her insubordination; there are other angels who are restless with the stasis of Heaven and ready for change. Progress doesn’t come easily, though, especially when it means uniting ancient enemies to fight for a common cause.

Engage is a novella that prequels Kala and Ana’s story in Incite.

Tick Review

Title:  Tick
Author: Allison Rose
Genre:Young Adult/Dystopian
Publisher:  RockRose Books
Publication Date:  April 7,2015

The Blurb: Jo Bristol has a tick ... she has visions of killing people. Los Angeles is under attack from cyber terrorists, and in an effort to stop them, the city uses spy drones to seek out civilians with brain abnormalities and adjusts their brains to remove any criminal tendencies. Jo has spent her life evading the drones and having her brain be manipulated by keeping her tick a secret, until a week before her seventeenth birthday her visions threaten to become reality.

Having always wanted to be a painter, Jo knows any adjustment to her brain could alter her artistic sense and she could lose all that makes her who she is. She must do everything she can to hide the darkness in her mind or lose her muse completely.

I Was Fortunate to win this through Goodreads First Reads, right from the start i was hooked. You think you'll like a book but then you actually like it and it's amazing and has great plot and character and it makes you so glad you read the book. I LOVED EVERYTHING. i didn't put the book down until the last sentence, Jo is now in my top fave characters. I Felt crazy thinking she was crazy, i mean who doesn't fantasize about killing someone but her visions were gruesome and i loved it.  I Had a feeling thing's weren't right but still i was surprised.

I Still want to punch Felix because i can't stand secrets and not knowing what's going to happen with my life yet someone else does. God was he infuriating and i still don't know how i feel about him, i loved and adore Evie, i mean she's so carefree yet this 11 year old girl is the best shooter with a rifle.
The ending just when you think you have answers and somewhat peace, nope it's not over and you are left with more questions. I Enjoy books that keep you guessing then end in cliff hangers but at the same time i hate it lol
I need the second book like yesterday!

Waiting on :Soundless

Today's Waiting on Wednesday; A Weekly meme of your most anticipated books hosted by breaking the spine

From Richelle Mead, the #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy and Bloodlines, comes a breathtaking new fantasy steeped in Chinese folklore.

For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.

When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.

But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.

Richelle Mead takes readers on a triumphant journey from the peak of Fei’s jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiugo, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever

You should note i will read almost anything by Richelle and it's going to bee from Chinese folklore!? I am so hyped, i love when authors take on new themes and genres (yes i know sometimes it's a miss) but i'm hoping this will be a hit, and look at the cover! So pretty and she looks kick ass

Confessions of a Queen B***** Cover Reveal

Today i have another cover reveal hosted by Xpresso Tours, i love revealing covers. They set the tone for how you feel about a book and can go either way.

Here we Go:

Goodreads Link:Confessions of a Queen B****

Confessions of a Queen B* by Crista McHugh
(Queen B* #1)
Publication date: July 28th 2015
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

Alexis Wyndham is the other type of Queen B—the Queen Bitch.

After years of being the subject of ridicule, she revels in her ability to make the in-crowd cower via the exposés on her blog, The Eastline Spy. Now that she’s carved out her place in the high school hierarchy, she uses her position to help the unpopular kids walking the hallways.

Saving a freshman from bullies? Check.
Swapping insults with the head cheerleader? Check.
Falling for the star quarterback? So not a part of her plan.

But when Brett offers to help her solve the mystery of who’s posting X-rated videos from the girls’ locker room, she’ll have to swallow her pride and learn to see past the high school stereotypes she’s never questioned—until now.

You should note i love stories like this but it has to be done well. The Blurb is pulling me in.
