And I Darken ARC Review

This Post is waaaaay late but i have been being lazy and slumpy *is that a word*

No one expects a princess to be brutal. And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Radu are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.
But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against—and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random house for a free copy in exchange for an honest review . If i could give "And I Darken " more stars than 5 i would, i so would.
THIS is how you write a kick ass female character who ca be vulnerable and yet fierce and never lose herself to both sides and add in Romance that doesn't smother the story or take away from the character.

One of the things i loved were the relationships between many characters all intertwined. I was so Pumped reading this book.

Lada Lada Lada is everything and more, omg her fierceness and loyalty to her people, family and country makes me want to stand up and cheer. I love that she worried about losing herself to a man, and just being that girl and she somehow kept it all together. I mean this is what i have been looking for in a female character for a long time, most stories when it hits the center of romance it's like things change and that's what the character and the story becomes about.

I really liked the young prince, it's so hard to say you're going to change the world but actually doing it it's something else entirely and i was rooting for him all the way, being young in an empire where you are destined to rule is stressful and i'm glad he had lada and her brother to help navigate his crazy world

Reading And I Darken made me want to go back and read everything about Dracula and his world, truth and myth. Watch every movie and imagine lada in all of them.

Kiersten while spun an epic tale i was so happy to jump into and become obsessed with.

I CANNOT WAIT TO READ THE SEQUEL.
